Help & support
How can we help your desk?
TocsinWire watches the official record so your newsroom is first, and right. The guides below cover the everyday questions; when you'd rather just ask a person, we're one email away and we answer fast.
Popular topics
The essentials for running a desk on TocsinWire. Signed in? Every signal in the app also links straight back to its official source, so an editor can always check the original.
Getting started
Sign in with a passkey or a one-time email code — no passwords. Your home is the Bellboard, where signals from the sources your workspace subscribes to appear automatically, most urgent first. There's nothing to install to start reading.
The Bellboard
Triage the wire: filter by country, source, category or score as removable tokens, and save any combination as a named view (private, or shared with your workspace). Acknowledge, escalate, claim, or mark noise to train what surfaces. Keyboard-first — j/k to move, a/e/n to act, / to search.
Signals & the Tocsin Score
When an official source changes, TocsinWire creates a signal and scores its urgency 0–100. The score is content-led — the wording of the source drives it — with a public-interest lift for notable subjects. Every signal carries an evidence trail: the exact source text, links, and a screenshot.
AI drafts you stay in control of
Each signal can produce an editor-ready draft (Flash, Wire) built only from the source material and always attributed. Nothing is ever auto-published — a human decides what goes out. Prefer your own model? Bring your own key.
Alerts & Slack
In Integrations → Alerts, send qualifying signals to Slack, Microsoft Teams, Discord, email or a webhook. Set a minimum score per channel, and scope a channel to a saved view so a Belgium desk only hears about Belgium. Slack connects in one click with Add to Slack. See the callout below.
Sources & coverage
Your Sources page shows what your workspace watches and lets you browse the vetted catalogue for your markets. Need something we don't yet track? Request a source and our team reviews it — we decide what to monitor, how often, and how to read it reliably.
Access, roles & SSO
Invite teammates and choose their role from Settings → Users. Runs your own single sign-on (SAML or OIDC)? It's supported — ask us to set it up for your newsroom.
Billing & your subscription
Manage your plan and invoices from Settings → Billing. Coverage is priced by market, not per seat, so your whole desk can use it. Questions about a plan or a trial? Talk to us.
Connecting Slack
The TocsinWire Slack app delivers your alerts into Slack — it needs a TocsinWire subscription, and you connect it from inside the app, not from Slack itself. In Integrations → Alerts, choose Slack, set the score and scope for the channel, and click Add to Slack; pick a channel in Slack and you're done. Prefer to do it by hand, or not create an app? Paste an incoming-webhook URL instead, and on paid Slack plans you can point a channel's "email to channel" address at an Email alert. Alerts not arriving? Confirm the signal is on the Bellboard, then check the channel's minimum score, scope and that it isn't paused.
Still need a hand?
Email [email protected] and a real person on our team will help. Tell us your workspace and what you're seeing — screenshots welcome — and we'll get you unstuck. We aim to reply within one business day, and faster when a desk is mid-story.
